Bad Session

Ultimate frustrating session earlier today, resulting to a new high on my max loss day. -87usd.

Here are highlight of all all-ins.
AK < AA
AK < TT
KK < 98s (flop 88x)
KK < AA
AA < QJ (flop Q, turn J)

I admit I did loose call about 2 big pots with overpair to an obvious straight on board. I have tightened my range as much already today yet I can't escape the dark side of variance for those all-ins. Blame variance for lost and congratulate skills for wins? Sound familiar haha.

The losses really frustrated me that really got me. So I stopped. I can accept one or two sucking out but 8 out of 10 pots can drive me insane.

Anyway I did participate the last Sunday Storm in stars, along with my cousin. The time of tournament starts in my country is 2:30am, insane to be playing. But I thought about trying since I am currently unemployed. I thought about using my fpp to buy the tournament tickets, but thinking of saving it first since I still can manage the buy-in ($11) with my bankroll.

So I played the tournament to about 5:30am with some healthy stacks until I was put to another table and dealt AA first hand. First guy raised, I re-raised, third guy shoved (QQ), first guy insta-called (TT), I insta-called. Flop a T and gg.

Entrant was about 39,985 I cashed out about number 5,461 place for $15.99 lol.

2000 Hands Today Net +ve

Two sessions today. Each about 1000 hands, 4-tabling 0.08/0.16 in PokerStars. First session up about +50usd, but second session got A LOT of cooler, massive 3-betting from all direction. -30usd second session and today sum up to about +20usd.

Been on streak this month, although it could have been even better when some beats made me a little loose. But I have to say my worst games are getting better. If I am able to maintain my streak for the rest of the month, I am probably thinking about moving up stakes to 0.10/0.25, or am I rushing?

This month is the highest grind I ever had in stars, currently at about 1,500 vpp this month, where previously I couldn't even hit a silverstar. x1.5 multiplier of fpp rocks for now. Talking about fpp, my girlfriend bought a MacBook Pro, we were browsing around for laptop bags but apple products are way too expensive, though they are classy and we love. Happen that I was browsing stars VIP store and ordered this laptop bag that has been shipped. :)

For about 1,200 fpp. I think it is still way cheaper than retail prices. I also saw a PokerStars money clip which I love it, but currently out of stock. Too bad.

Closing up to my overall profit. Happy weekend people!

First Original Post In 'Black Deck Poker'

Hello guys, welcome to my new blog 'Black Deck Poker'. I know its not a very cool name but just ran with it. Just wanted a 'Black' in it, I thought about 'Black Stack Poker' but it was already taken.

Anyway, I have imported most of my poker posts from my other blog Black Bottle Forex, but not all. Reason with the new poker blog after tons of poker posts in a forex blog is, obv I think most original readers in my Black Bottle Forex blogs were there to read on trading and forex. Too much poker blog bores them. And new readers who were looking for poker posts might also felt confused with the trading posts. So here it is. Purely poker posts.

What I intend to do with this blog is similarly, rants/evaluate/review my after-session. I track my hand histories and profit and loss through PokerTracker, but felt the need to verbally abuse (review) my session. And hopefully poker expert readers will give me critics and review, although there is possibility of zero readers and me talking to myself, thats not really bad though.

I will also do book reviews, monthly profit & loss reviews like the other blog.

I play online poker in PokerStars and occasional live poker. Currently 4-tabling in 0.08 / 0.16 micro-stake cash games. I often join tourneys and sit & gos but I am pretty bad at it, seldom cashing. If you do play in PokerStars too feel free to pop by table and say hi my ID is 'hxh147' but please don't win my money.

Catch some live update also on twitter @blacknbottle !

Thanks for dropping by!

My Best Day In PokerStars

Today I finally achieve VIP SilverStar for the firstime ever since I started playing PokerStars. It is no sweat for high stakes player but I been grinding out almost everyday, a lot of sweat for me. At this rate I don't think I can aim for GoldStar, unless I continue to improve and move up stakes.

It is amazing for the first 1.5 years of my poker career I been losing 8 out of 10 days and now I am running hot. When you grind for VPP & FPP at the same time earning profits, it feels real good. Because it used to be moving in opposite direction. I'm not say it won't in future but I'm happy right now. Feeling good, running good, builds my confidence and game. Today up another US$73 in cash games 3-tabling 0.08/0.16.

Entered a re-buy tourney and I was above average stack. Entrants was about 512 and I was knocked out at 154 when I 4-bet shoved KK to a semi-loosed guy who thought for a while...... and called me with QQ. Turn came a Q and I found myself face-palm and taking deep breaths. Luckily it didn't affect my cash games (playing simultaneously) like it would have used to (thanks to Mental Game of Poker), and I continue to grind.

Gonna go out for a while and maintain balance lifestyle (shopping lol). Been in front of the computer for so many hours already. Have a great weekend people!

Poker Updates - No Trades

Haven't been trading for the past one week. Almost grinding poker at home everyday. I think I am at my next level. Used to be just a few dollars for my daily overall profit/loss. Currently 3-tabling and my peak session winning was US$73, high loss about US$65.

Another emotional achievement was that I am able to remain calm despite my peak loss day. And I was surprise that I wasn't that super happy either when my new session peak win happened. I think deep down I am slowly accepting variance in poker, of course I do get pissed when shoving an AA losing to KK. On the other hand, I remind myself I do crack aces with AKs when I flop a nut flush.

Today I sat down and lost about 30usd within 50 hands. Managed to grind them back up and additional profit of 15usd. Tired and I stopped.

Above is cash games profit n loss graph. Did went back down to red but managed to win back. I am aiming for VIP SilverStar for this month. Currently about 100 vpp away.

Still no luck with tournaments/sngs. Lol what an awful graph.
